Kathryn Cleo (Hanninen) Hanson, age 81, of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul, Minnesota. An open house will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, Minnesota, with a time of sharing at 2:00 pm.

Kathryn was born on May 23, 1943, to Bruno and Ella “Pat” (Walker) Hanninen in Osage, Minnesota. The family moved to Minneapolis in 1953, where she attended school at the Ascension Catholic Academy in Minneapolis, and would go on to graduate from their cosmetology program. After graduation, Kathryn worked as a hair stylist and waitress. She would also volunteer for medical studies. On February 20, 1960, she was united in marriage to Bruce Richard Hanson at Ascension Catholic Church in Minneapolis and to that union had three children: Terry, Tamara, and Bruce. She moved to Robbinsdale in 1983 where she resided until her passing.

Kathryn enjoyed swimming at the local YMCA. She also was an avid bowler who competed in bowling league. She was an exceptional cook and loved baking. Everyone looked forward to her Christmas cookies. She loved her time with her family, especially the little ones. In her kindness she often took in friends and family and would give them a place to stay.

She is survived by her children: Terry Salminen of Bloomington, MN; Tamara (Ron) Hanson of Robbinsdale, MN; and Bruce Hanson (Kari) of Robbinsdale, MN; grandchildren: Nicole, John, Katelyn, and Shane; great-grandchildren: Kyaira, and Kaiden; great-great grandchildren: Kentrell, and Aniyla; brothers: Virgil Hanninen of Minneapolis, MN; Bob (Mary) Hanninen of Menahga, MN; Bill (Susie) Hanninen of Princeton, MN; Norman Hanninen of Menahga, MN; and Tom Hanninen of Menahga, MN; sisters-in-law: Linda Rae, Linda Faye, and Paula; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bruce; her parents Bruno and Pat; a sister: Brenda Hanninen; brothers, Steve, and Ken; a sister-in-law, Karen Hanninen; and will be loving missed by the Hanson family.
