LaVonne Arlene Beguelin

September 22, 1928 — November 9, 2025

Wadena

LaVonne Arlene Beguelin, age 97, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at Comfort Care Cottages in Wadena, Minnesota. God welcomed to heaven one of the most wonderful angels ever created.

LaVonne was born to Thelma (Bobst) and Oscar Chapman on September 22, 1928, in Aredale, Iowa. She was raised on a farm outside Greene, Iowa with her three sisters and two brothers. She married Francis Louis Beguelin on February 22, 1947, and they were married for 64 years before Francis passed away. LaVonne and Francis were blessed with two children, Myron Howard Beguelin and Joan Frances Tate. They farmed for decades in Butler County, Iowa, before moving to Menahga, Minnesota in 2007 to be closer to family.

LaVonne was loving, patient, hardworking and practical. The memories she created are unmeasurable. She raised prize winning Saanen goats, made caramel popcorn and lemon wafers for Christmas, and her grandkids never went to bed hungry thanks to Totino’s party pizza and ice cream sundaes served in her best crystal goblets. She loved attending church in her beautiful dresses and hats. She enjoyed thrift store shopping and finding a bargain. She had a sweet voice, a beautiful smile that made her eyes twinkle and a gentle laugh.

She is survived by her Daughter, Joan Tate, her Grandchildren, Tanya (Troy) Monson, Sheryl (Cory) Porter and Blaine (Jill) Tate, her 12 Great Grandchildren and her seven Great Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, son-in-law, as well as her two sister and two brothers.
